The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices to mitigate threat posed by climate change food systems around world, provide wise water management and restore degraded lands. At same time, it suggested benefits advantages brought use near-surface geophysical measurements assist precision farming, in particular providing information on soil variability at both vertical horizontal scales. Among such survey methodologies, Ground Penetrating Radar has demonstrated its effectiveness characterisation as a consequence sensitivity variations electrical properties additional capability investigating subsurface stratification. aim this contribution is comprehensive review current GPR technique within domain irrigation, specifically capacity detailed within-field spatial textural, structural hydrological properties, which are needed optimize irrigation management, variable-rate approach preserve resources while maintaining or improving crop yields their quality. For each property, analyses commonly adopted operational data processing approaches, highlighting limitations.
